About usNORTHSIDE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION was formed in 2002 to represent the Tenants and Residents of Northside Area. (Consisting of Mill Close, Edwards Field, Cae Camlas, Y Ffrydd, Dinam Terrace, Coed-y-Ffrydd and Dysart Terrace, Cae Cymric). The
housing stock is a mixture of houses, and flats, some are privately
owned,
others are rented from the County Council, Housing Associations, and
private
landlords. Our small committee meets approx every 6
weeks, but every one is
welcome. |

Letter from Francis TorrensSince becoming
Chairman of
the Northside Residents Association many things have come my way to
test the
patience of a Saint. My grand-mother used to say that Wonders take a
week
Miracles take a little longer. I was elected onto
the Town
Council in 2004 at the same time that I contested the County Council
elections.
I won one and lost the other. In 2008 I was successful in winning the
Ward and
am now both Town and County Councillor for Newtown North Ward. There have been many
problems
across the whole area to solve, but with doggered determination, skill
and
sheer persistence, things have turned out for the best, in more cases
than not.
The biggest problem has been the turning off of certain street lamps to
save
the Council money in what has been a very tight financial period. This
has
brought many residents forward for my attention and in 95% of cases, a
successful outcome has eased the situation somewhat if not completely. To walk round my Ward
and see
the time and effort residents put to make their gardens a work of art
really
makes me proud to be their representative. An Uncle of mine used to
say…’A greater satisfaction is the achievement for others
from our labours, not
the element of personal gain’. |
